Purple Top White Globe Turnip Heirloom Seeds

Root is large smooth, globular, 3-4" across,
white bottom with a purplish top.
Flesh is white, tender and crisp.
These turnip produce sweet, colorful, mild-tasting roots
that add flavor to a variety of dishes.
Purple Top White Globe Turnip can be cooked like mashed potatoes,
added to soups, shredded or sliced fresh for salads,
and can even be eaten raw like apples.
The leafy green tops of turnips are even more nutritious
than the roots and are considered to be
one of the best-flavored greens you can eat.
Turnip roots and greens are low in saturated fat and cholesterol
and high in dietary fiber, Vitamins C, A , K, and
respectable levels of B6 (pyridoxine), B2 (riboflavin),
B1 (thiamine), B5 (Panthothenic), B3 (niacin), folate,
manganese, calcium, copper, potassium,
magnesium, iron and low in calories.
Very popular heirloom turnip.

Days To Maturity: 45-65 days.

Approximately 400 seeds per packet.

Planting:

Full Sun / Can Tolerate Partial Shade
Soil Type: Rich, well-drained, deep sandy loam.
Sow directly outdoors:
3 - 4 weeks before last frost.
In very warm climates, sow in September.
Seed Depth: 1/4" Seed Spacing:
Three seeds per inch
Row Spacing: 12'
Days to Emerge: 5 to 10
Keep moist, not waterlogged.
Thinning: When 1" tall thin to 3" apart.
Don't thin those that you plan to use as greens.

How To Harvest
Purple Top White Globe Turnip Heirloom Seeds 
Turnips will grow in height and then flower.
Staking may be required.
Seeds are mature when pods are dry.
Harvest individual pods or entire stalks.
Harvest into bags as seed can be lost due to shattering.
Or harvest onto a tarp in the morning when plants
are still wet with dew.
Use a 1/8" screen to help with cleaning.
Store in a cool dry place.
