Planting:
Turnip Vertus Marteau is relatively easy to grow,
given good conditions.
Soil should be loose, fertile, and kept evenly moist.
Direct sow in early spring through late summer
1/4 inch deep in rows 12-18 inches apart.
Thin to 2 to 6 inches apart, depending on how
large you plan to grow the roots,
1-2 inches apart if you are growing only for the greens.
For best germination soil should be
cool to warm (50-80F), and kept moist.
Successive plantings will yield a continuous crop.
How To Harvest Turnip Vertus Marteau Heirloom Seeds
Turnips will grow in height and then flower.
Staking may be required.
Seeds are mature when pods are dry.
Harvest individual pods or entire stalks.
Harvest into bags as seed can be lost due to shattering.
Or harvest onto a tarp in the morning when plants
are still wet with dew.
Use a 1/8" screen to help with cleaning.
Store in a cool dry place.
